Process: Concept To Fabrication

While we love hand-wrought metal fabrication for its incomparable variation, we also love laser cut materials because we can indulge in geometric pattern making. This digital pattern making allows us to translate hand drawn organic concepts into repeatable designs. Color variation, changes in size, and hand applied textures make our patterns uniquely charming and slightly different each time.

Creating a digital concept starts in Claire’s sketchbook. She refines the drawing, and programs the design, playing with scale and experimenting with movement and reflection. Local metalworkers then cut the prototypes and eventually the final versions of the new fire screens. We finish each piece by hand, applying color, texture, and polish.
